Barrett to see out season with Wigan
Trent Barrett says he will remain with his English club Wigan for the rest of the season.
The former Australian Test five-eighth is expected to meet club officials to discuss his future amid reports he wants to end his contract because his pregnant wife Kylie is homesick.
However the Daily Telegraph newspaper in Britain reported that Barratt would see out the season with Wigan.
"There's a lot of stuff flying around but I will definitely be staying at Wigan for the rest of this season," Barratt told the newspaper.
"I wouldn't go before because that would not be fair to the club or my team-mates.
"I did not want all this to come out and there is no decision either way yet (after this season) but it is a distraction."
Barrett, 30, still has 18 months to run on his STG300,000-a-season ($A638,000) contract.
He reportedly was considering trying to get out of the deal and return to Australia, possibly to his old NRL club St George Illawarra.
Several British newspapers reported Wigan coach Brian Noble saying he believed Barratt would remain in England.
"As far as I'm concerned all the noises are coming from Australia and Trent will be staying with us," Noble said.
"Trent is totally focused playing for us this year.
"Everybody has personal circumstances and we don't discuss it in the media. It is an issue for Trent and the club."
Barrett's father Bruce Barrett told the Sunday Telegraph in Sydney at the weekend that his son wanted to leave Wigan and return to Australia.
NRL rivals Canberra, the Sharks and Bulldogs are all reportedly interested in signing Barrett if he returns.
