Blues ban three players for Crows clash
Carlton have suspended three players for Sunday's important AFL match against Adelaide for disciplinary reasons.
Small forwards Eddie Betts and Jeff Garlett and ruckman Cameron Cloke will all miss the Etihad Stadium clash, after they were late to a recovery session on Sunday morning.
It is an extremely strong statement by the Blues, given the winner of the match will be guaranteed a home final and also have a very slim shot at a top four spot and finals double chance.
"This is very disappointing for all concerned, particularly as we play such an important game against Adelaide on Saturday, the final game before we embark on our finals campaign," Carlton football manager Steven Icke said.
"While all three players have apologised for their tardy behaviour, this decision ensures that everyone understands the disciplines that are required when you are part of the Carlton Football Club."
Garlett kicked four goals in the Blues' big win over Melbourne at Etihad Stadium on Saturday, the biggest goal haul in his nine senior games.
Betts has been a key part of the club's attack, with his 37 goals for the season so far second only to spearhead Brendan Fevola.
Cloke has played the past two matches in the absence of injured fellow ruckman Shaun Hampson, who is no certainty to return from a back complaint this weekend.
Carlton will play finals this September for the first time since 2001.
