Ennis cleared of chicken wing tackle
Bulldogs hooker Michael Ennis has been found not guilty of a chicken wing tackle at the NRL judiciary and is free to play the Wests Tigers on Sunday.
Ennis was charged with grade one dangerous contact for his ninth-minute tackle on Canberra's Josh Dugan last Sunday.
But Ennis successfully argued that his force on Dugan's arm was because the Raiders fullback was applying force to his throat in an attempt to fend off the tackle.
Ennis is now cleared to play the Tigers and face Robbie Farah - his main rival for the NSW No.9 jersey.
Ennis said afterwards he was pleased to disassociate himself from the ugly wrestling tactics that have plagued the game.
"I would rather scrub the chicken wing and just talk about the tackle," he said.
"It was good to walk away with the result we have worked hard on."
Ennis said he was now focused on getting ready for Sunday's clash, but denied it was a showdown with rival Farah.
"It's just another week, there's a few to go yet," he said.
"It's important I get my preparation right like I did the last seven weeks. This week is no different.
"I will be back to training tomorrow and it'll be business as usual."
