Mystery woman may save Bosnich
Mark Bosnich's hopes of saving his career rest with a mystery woman who has reportedly admitted she may have accidentally spiked the former Socceroo's drink with cocaine.
Private investigators hired by the former Chelsea goalkeeper may have secretly filmed the woman adding cocaine to drinks at nightclubs around London, it has emerged.
And the woman is understood to have given sworn statements to the Football Association admitting that she could have put the drug into what she thought was her glass while sharing a bottle of champagne with Bosnich.
Bosnich, 31, presented the new evidence at a personal FA Cup hearing at a secret location in London in his final attempt to beat a one-year ban, the Evening Standard reported.
The disciplinary committee hearing is scheduled to last two days, with a decision expected late Tuesday afternoon (GMT).
Bosnich's career has been in limbo since he tested positive for the recreational drug last November.
He lost an appeal against his sacking by Chelsea from his $A109,000-a-week contract and faces a one-year ban from soccer if the FA committee finds him guilty of misconduct.
He has declined to comment since the test results but has refused to admit knowingly taking the drug, despite legal advice that a guilty plea could win him a two-month rather than 12-month ban.
The Evening Standard said the private investigators produced the new evidence after a three-month investigation.
Regulars at the Wellington Club, an upmarket nightclub in Knightsbridge, recalled seeing Bosnich drinking champagne with the woman before his drug test, then needing help to get home despite not having drunk much alcohol.
