Carey embroiled in row over hotel party
New Adelaide Football Club prized recruit Wayne Carey is reportedly linked to a police inquiry into a wild party at an Adelaide hotel last month.
The inquiry concerns a complaint that Carey's friends stole a camera after photographs were taken of the star with a girl at the party on January 6, the Herald Sun reported today.
A Melbourne family staying at the beachside Stamford Grand Hotel told South Australian police about the drunken party in the room opposite theirs.
A member of the family gave a camera to a woman leaving the celebration, who returned to the room and took shots of Carey sitting talking to an unidentified young woman, the newspaper reported.
Carey's friends reportedly came into the family's room and took away the camera after an argument over the photographs.
Adelaide Football Club confirmed Carey was at the party.
"We've spoken to Wayne and told him to be careful about those things," Crows football manager John Reid told the Herald Sun.
"He's got to learn there's certain situations that shouldn't occur and that's probably one of them," Reid reportedly said.
Reid said he did not believe Carey, the former captain of the North Melbourne Kangaroos, was photographed in a compromising position.
Last year, Carey left the Kangaroos after it was revealed he had been having an affair with Kelli Stevens, the wife of his teammate Anthony.
