Wayne Carey's wife breaks silence
The wife of Australian Rules footballer Wayne Carey has broken her silence over her husband's affair to declare she was happy and wants to have a family.
Sally Carey said she was hurt, bitter, betrayed and angry over Carey's affair with Kelli Stevens, the wife of his team-mate and close friend Anthony Stevens.
She refused to comment when the saga unfolded last year, instead retreating to her parents' home in Wagga Wagga, NSW, to avoid the media glare.
But despite Carey's indiscretion, Mrs Carey has stuck by her husband and is starting her life anew with him in Adelaide, where the former captain of the North Melbourne Kangaroos will play for the Adelaide Crows.
"I feel these things mend with time," she told New Idea.
"But now we have moved and are in a new state and in a new house - it probably makes it a little easier when you're not being confronted by every detail, day in and day out.
"I'm happy with the decisions I have made in my life."
Mrs Carey, who did not directly discuss the affair in the magazine article, said the loss of a friend in the Bali bombings put her situation in perspective.
"As difficult a time as I have had lately, I've had my family and friends around me," she said.
"I still have a career I can pursue, and I have my health.
