Carey threatens legal action
AFL star Wayne Carey threatened legal action over allegations of his involvement in a spa party romp.
Carey and his wife Sally released a statement through his Adelaide manager refuting allegations of wrongdoing by the Adelaide Crows player at a friend's birthday party last month.
A 19-year-old woman claims to have taken a photo of Carey naked apart from a t-shirt and said she saw him with a young woman.
Carey, through the club, has denied being photographed in a compromising position and said he was fully-dressed.
Carey's manager Anthony Zammit said the controversy had affected the lives of Carey and his wife, who are back together after separating last year when it was revealed he had been sleeping with the wife of a Kangaroos teammate.
"I don't think it has had any effect as such on their relationship, but it has certainly had an effect on the way they go about their daily lives," Zammit said.
Carey was with teammates on Wednesday, visiting schoolchildren at remote Mt Gambier in South Australia's south-east.
However Zammit, reading from a prepared statement on Channel 10 news, said Carey and his wife refuted "in the strongest possible manner" all allegations made against the Adelaide Crows recruit about events at the party at an Adelaide beachside hotel.
"The allegations are, and can be proven, false," Zammit said.
He said lawyers were preparing to take action over the allegations, which he said had reached "ridiculous levels".
