Dokic to apply for UK asylum: Damir
World No.8 tennis player Jelena Dokic looks set to become an asylum seeker - again.
Dokic's father Damir, who fled to Australia with his family from war-torn Yugoslavia in 1994, now plans to claim political asylum in Britain during Wimbledon.
Damir Dokic said the Yugoslav state had let his family down since they relocated to Belgrade in 2001.
"We're disappointed with the way the Yugoslav state has treated us," Damir was quoted as saying in British newspapers.
"My daughter says she does not want to play for Yugoslavia any more, not in the Fed Cup or at the 2004 Olympics in Athens.
"During the Wimbledon tournament I plan to apply for political asylum in the UK and move my family there."
It's not the first time Damir has talked about moving to England.
He floated the idea last August after Belgrade planning officials refused him permission to build a mansion and tennis complex on a public park.
But it is the first time he has mentioned claiming asylum.
However, he may have hurt his case with his comments as he was being escorted out of Wimbledon in 2000 when he said: "England is a free country, the Queen is on the side of democracy and the rest of the country are fascists."
