Warriors stun Bulls at Gabba
Defending ING Cup champions Western Australia signed off from this season's one-day competition in style with a stunning 57-run win over Queensland at the Gabba.
Out of finals contention, the Warriors ripped the heart out of the wobbly Bulls middle-order to win the dead rubber by dismissing the home side for 153 in the 41st over.
The Bulls collapsed terribly chasing just 211 for victory, losing their last nine wickets for 71 after seemingly cruising at 1-82 in the 16th over.
Former Brisbane boy Steve Magoffin made it a homecoming to remember by taking 3-40 while all-rounder Kade Harvey (3-32) continued his torment of the Bulls.
Harvey last season stole the ING Cup final from Queensland's grasp by taking four wickets and hitting an unbeaten 53 off 42 balls in a stunning all-round display.
It should have been a walk in the park for the runaway competition leaders who booked the right to host next weekend's final a month ago.
But it seems the bad old days of wilting in the February heat may have returned for Queensland which has crashed in its past two one-dayers and was completely outplayed by NSW in its last Pura Cup game.
They now enter Sunday week's final requiring a major form reversal to ensure they don't fall to their third loss in a home one-day final in four seasons.
Michael Kasprowicz (4-37) and Mitchell Johnson (4-45) had put Queensland on the front foot by reducing the Warriors to 9-210 after Marcus Rogers (55 off 76) and Chris Rogers (43 off 85) combined for a century stand.
Man-of-the-match Darren Wates saw the visitors past 200 with a lusty unbeaten 28 off 23.
