Bulls counting on Watson to beat WA
Queensland is staring down the barrel of a third straight outright defeat at home this season after Western Australia continued to dominate their Pura Cup clash at the Gabba.
The defending champion Bulls went to stumps on day two at 3-88, still needing another 90 runs to make the Warriors bat again.
WA clinched first innings points early on Monday when it passed Queensland's first-innings total of 139 with just three wickets down before going on to make 317.
Injury-plagued all-rounder Shane Watson, who took 3-60 in his return to the bowling crease, holds most of the Bulls hopes by remaining unbeaten on 23 at stumps.
He will resume a 32-run stand with Craig Philipson that steadied a sinking ship after losing Jimmy Maher (16), Lachlan Stevens (22) and Clinton Perren (0).
Traditionally so strong at home, Queensland has lost to New South Wales and Tasmania in its previous two matches at the Gabba this season.
