Makybe Diva connections to weigh Cup run
Makybe Diva will have her first serious workout on Thursday since her Cox Plate win but connections won't be pressured into a decision on a Melbourne Cup start.
Glen Boss will ride the mare at Lee Freedman's private track on the Mornington Peninsula in front of the trainer and owner Tony Santic.
Since the mare added the Cox Plate to her imposing record on Saturday, the attention has been intense regarding a tilt at a third Melbourne Cup.
Santic's racing manager Kevin Williams said nothing had changed and the public would be informed when any decision was made.
"Tony is on his way to Lee Freedman's place tonight and they will be watching her work in the morning," Williams said.
"They will have a better idea tomorrow of how she is going but that doesn't mean there will necessarily be a decision.
"Glen will get a feel for her and how well she is.
"She had a bit of a canter this morning but tomorrow will be her first real gallop."
Makybe Diva remains favourite for the Melbourne Cup (3200m) on Tuesday ahead of Leica Falcon and Railings.
She will have to carry 58kg if she runs, the same as last year's runner-up Vinnie Roe who will be going to stud at Coolmore in Ireland after the Cup.
