Questions remain over Diva's Cup plans
Will she or won't she? Should she or shouldn't she?
The questions haven't changed and the answers are still the same after Makybe Diva had her first serious workout on Thursday since her Cox Plate win.
No decision has been made yet on whether she'll start in Tuesday's Melbourne Cup, which she has won for the past two years.
Jockey Glen Boss made the trip to Lee Freedman's Mornington Peninsula property to ride the mare on Thursday morning and was more than happy with how she felt.
But that doesn't mean she will start in the Cup.
"She felt good, she looks great," Boss said.
"She's had a couple of easy days and her fitness level was up but that's what we expected.
"But if I get on her back and she doesn't feel like that, then I will say don't run.
"The task is enormous and we owe her everything, she owes us nothing."
Final acceptances for the Cup are taken on Saturday night but even if Makybe Diva's name is there, that's no guarantee it will be there three days later with a hard track the major concern, just as it is with Irish horse Vinnie Roe who chased her home last year.
