Bulls smash 400 to belt Warriors
A Queensland one-day batting blitzkrieg broke the 400 barrier and consigned Western Australia to the blackest Friday of all at the Gabba.
The Bulls smashed records and set countless milestones on the way to becoming the first team in the ING Cup to score two victory bonus points by doubling their opponents' total.
Skipper Jimmy Maher belted himself and his team into the record books, striking 187 from 129 balls as the Bulls charged to 4-405.
The Queensland bowlers then took over to restrict the Warriors (198) to less than half the massive total to register the double bonus point, introduced this season.
The 207-run cakewalk, which propels Queensland to second on the Cup table on 28, behind WA (29), was the second highest victory margin in 35 years of domestic one-day competition.
Maher described his team's victory as a complete one-day performance and was proud to see the Bulls become the first to achieve a double bonus points win.
"It was great timing for us for it to happen at this stage of the season and considering where we are on the ING Cup ladder," he said.
"It was a fantastic wicket to bat on and very oppressive conditions all day."
Law lauded Maher's batting, describing it as the best display of clean hitting he had ever witnessed.
"It was disappointing for Jimmy to be cut from the Australian side and he's doing the right things about setting the records straight."
