No official complaint from Warne accuser

The woman who accused Shane Warne of harassing her with phone and text messages has not (not) made an official complaint to South African police.

A spokeswoman for the South African police force told AAP Helen Cohen Alon met with detectives at Sandton Police Station in Johannesburg on Tuesday but did not open a case against the Australian cricket star.

Police had expected Cohen Alon to officially request charges be laid against a number of parties in the saga after she requested the meeting with detectives.

"She did not make any criminal complaint," she said.

"She talked to the local police, we are not at liberty to say what she talked about, but she said she's not going to make any complaint for the moment."

Without an official complaint, South African police were unlikely to investigate the matter further, she said.

"She didn't indicate (whether she may press charges later) ... she's got the right to come back if she wants to but at the moment there's no indication that she will."

The spokeswoman also denied reports South African police were investigating Cohen Alon for extortion.

Earlier, Victoria cricket coach David Hookes apologised for disparaging remarks he made about Cohen Alon.

He described Warne's accuser as "some dopey hairy-backed sheila (who) has dobbed him in on the other side of the world".
