Stripper claims affair with Warne
Shane Warne has decided against playing in a charity cricket match in England as a Melbourne stripper claimed she had a sexual affair with the disgraced leg spinner.
Mother-of-two Angela Gallagher, 38, said she met Warne at a South Melbourne nightspot on May 11 and had received frequent lurid SMS messages from him after their sexual relationship ended.
Gallagher, who was separated from her husband of 16 years, Paul, at the time of the affair, now wants an apology from Warne.
She claims Warne told her he and wife Simone had an open marriage.
Warne and his family arrived in London on Sunday in time for him to play in a charity cricket match for Surrey's Lashings Cricket Club on Friday.
But a Cricket Australia (CA) spokesman said that Warne's manager and brother Jason had phoned CA chief executive James Sutherland and confirmed Warne wouldn't play in any charity matches during his England trip.
Warne is halfway through a one-year ban from official cricket for taking banned diuretics, and CA believes it is inappropriate for Warne to play in charity matches and had hinted at more disciplinary action if he defied his employer.
"We don't believe that it's appropriate in the circumstances when Shane is a player banned under the anti-doping policy, that he should be participating in such matches," Sutherland said.
CA maintained that claims made about Warne's private life were for him to deal with, but Sutherland admitted they were causing cricket harm.
"It's unfortunate and it's not good for the game and we can only look forward to the summer," he said.
