Lions player faces sack
Brisbane's four-time premiership player Martin Pike may face the sack after claims of a late-night altercation with a club chief.
Pike allegedly head-butted Brisbane chief executive Michael Bowers outside the GP Hotel in Brisbane, at 4.30am (AEST) on Monday, Melbourne's Herald Sun newspaper reported.
Sources told the newspaper Bowers required treatment for a cut to the nose.
The alleged confrontation came after an animated discussion between the pair.
Pike's future with the Lions is tabled for discussion at a coaching staff meeting this week as part of a general review of older players, the paper said.
Pike refused to discuss the alleged incident with the Herald Sun.
Bowers denied the incident. Asked if he had clashed with Pike, he told the paper "No, not at all".
