Dragons winger NRL future under cloud
Wes Naiqama's NRL career hangs in the balance after police confirmed they are investigating claims he drove while disqualified.
The Dragons issued a statement confirming they had begun an internal review but would not comment further.
"The club will not be making any official comment at this point in time as it is inappropriate until this process is completed," the statement said.
Naiqama was first disqualified from driving in 2002 and had the period increased in December last year until 2013 after being caught driving unlicensed three months earlier.
He has been warned by the club before about driving while disqualified, and could face the sack.
Police were scheduled to interview a newspaper photographer to determine whether Naiqama should face charges.
The investigations were prompted by photographs, published by News Limited on Sunday, of the 24-year-old winger getting into a car and sitting in the vehicle driver's seat in the inner Sydney suburb of Surry Hills.
The photographer, John Grainger, told The Daily Telegraph Naiqama was driving the vehicle.
"He took off at speed when he saw me - he was definitely driving," Grainger said.
