Lynch irreplaceable - Matthews
Brisbane coach Leigh Matthews has declared injured power forward Alastair Lynch irreplaceable.
But he believes the Lions have the players to step up in the absence of the veteran from Friday night's AFL qualifying final.
Lynch is two to three weeks away from playing after he received a hamstring strain against the Kangaroos on Saturday.
Two-time premiership utility Brad Scott is most likely to return after a two-month lay-off with injury.
But the coach admitted the Lions will miss Lynch, a consistent and reliable target up forward.
"Alastair in his own right is irreplaceable but that doesn't mean we can't play good footy and win without him because we've done that in the past," Matthews said.
"Alastair is a very consistent target to kick to at full forward, very strong at the body and we all know his strength so therefore you can't replace him.
"But you get a 22nd player into the side who gives you other qualities.
"So the ability to replace Alastair is simply how the rest of the guys in that part of the ground perform on the day."
Utility Daniel Bradshaw is a likely replacement for Lynch at full forward but Martin Pike and ruckman Clark Keating may also drift down and captain Michael Voss may also spend more time in the forward line.
