Power still in Lions contract wrangle
Secrecy continues to surround the immediate AFL future of Brisbane Lions vice-captain Luke Power with neither camp willing to comment on the drawn-out contractual drama.
Power remained as elusive off the field as he is for opponents on it with the star midfielder unavailable for comment after turning his mobile phone off.
His agent Ron Joseph was also not talking and did not return phone calls.
Power, an All-Australian last year and three-time premiership winner, has been linked to a move back to Victoria after eight seasons with the Lions.
Brisbane was also refusing to comment on the matter as per club policy.
The Lions haven't commented on individual player contracts since late 2002 and have maintained a remarkable level of silence over the Power debate.
Outspoken Brisbane midfielder Jason Akermanis, however, revealed on the weekend that if Power does leave it could be because of a rift with Lions coach Leigh Matthews.
Matthews poured pressure on Power to re-sign with the club earlier in the season.
"I would be very confident Luke will be here," Matthews said in late May.
"He's like all of us, we can't leave. If we leave we're bailing out - when things get tough, we're bailing out and you can't do that.
