Flag celebrations 'arrogant': Matthews
Brisbane Lions coach Leigh Matthews has labelled some members of his all-conquering team "arrogant" for the way they celebrated an historic hat-trick of AFL premierships.
In an interview screened on Channel 10 on Wednesday night, Matthews said he was unhappy with the behaviour of certain players.
"We haven't handled it well. We've been a bit arrogant and I haven't been pleased with that," Matthews said.
"I think in the post-game euphoria a few players said things that they shouldn't have."
Matthews said if his players did not come back down to earth, the club's tilt at a premiership "four-peat" would be seriously threatened.
"We're believers in being humble in victory and I just thought there were signs of arrogance and we've got to knock that out real quick," he said.
"It will affect the next campaign very badly if it's not knocked out very quick."
