Philippoussis's match postponed
Mark Philippoussis's third round match at Wimbledon against Fernando Gonzalez has postponed been until Sunday as rain again played havoc with the schedule.
The day's entire program was abandoned due to rain - the second washout this week - forcing officials to schedule matches on the middle Sunday which is normally a rest day.
It is the first time since 1997, and only the third in 118 years, that rain has forced organisers to open the gates on the middle Sunday.
Wednesday was also a complete washout and although full schedules were squeezed in on Thursday and Friday, the tournament is about 120 singles matches behind.
Philippoussis faces Gonzalez two weeks after the Chilean 24th seed beat the Australian at an exhibition event in Buckinghamshire, but they share a 1-1 head-to-head record in tour events.
Since arriving at Wimbledon, 11th seed Philippoussis has impressively broken his drought of seven successive first round losses, with wins over Christophe Rochus and Martin Verkerk.
The Victorian goes into his third round match with renewed confidence.
"I'm just going along with what I have to do, not worrying about everyone else. Not worrying about if they're worrying about me or talking about me," he said.
"Every match is a little better. I wouldn't even like to be playing my best tennis at the start. Everyone builds up as the tournament goes on."
Philippoussis and Hewitt are the only Australians left in the singles, with seventh seed and 2002 champion Hewitt due to play his fourth round match against Carlos Moya on Monday.
