Scud through to Wimbledon final
Mark Philippoussis has charged into his first Wimbledon final with a commanding straight sets win over Frenchman Sebastien Grosjean.
Philippoussis was in powerful touch as he eyed off his first grand slam title with a 7-6 (7-3) 6-3 6-3 semi final win over the 13th seed.
It is the fourth year in a row an Australian has been in the final at Wimbledon, following Pat Rafter's losses in 2000 and 2001 and Lleyton Hewitt's triumph last year.
The world No.48 and former No.8 has finally marked his return to the tennis elite, reaching his second grand slam final, five injury interrupted years since his loss to Rafter in the 1998 US Open decider.
"There's one more to go," Philippoussis said as he came off the court.
"I don't think Sebastien played his best tennis today and I took advantage of that.
"I was happy with the way I volleyed today.
"It hasn't sunk in yet but I feel pretty good."
Philippoussis, 26, took a watertight first set in a tie break and then immediately secured the first break of the match at the start of the second set.
He broke late in the third set to serve for a place in the final at 5-3 and, after holding three match points, took it with an appropriate serve and volley.
