McRae tipped as new Rabbitohs coach
Shaun McRae is expected to be confirmed as South Sydney coach - but Great Britain winger Brian Carney has deflected talk he is ready to join the NRL club.
McRae, currently coaching Hull in England, is expected to take over from caretaker coach Arthur Kitinas next season.
Kitinas is likely to stay on as McRae's assistant.
Carney was expected to join McRae at Redfern in 2004 but the Irishman has hosed down speculation linking him with the Rabbitohs
"I've got another two years on my contract at Wigan, so I can't see myself going anywhere," Carney said on Wigan's website.
Meanwhile, the English superclub continues to be linked with St George Illawarra and NSW centre Mark Gasnier.
Gasnier is expected to clarify his future after the third State of Origin game at Telstra Stadium on Wednesday night.
If he elects to move to England at the end of the season, his chances of being picked in the Kangaroos squad for the Tri-nations tournament could be clouded.
History has shown national selectors have been reticent to pick players who plan on leaving the NRL for overseas or rugby union.
However, ARL chief executive Geoff Carr said Gasnier would still be eligible for the Kangaroos even if he decided to join Wigan in 2005.
