Rafter backs Scud against Swedes
Former world number one Pat Rafter says Mark Philippoussis will rise above his current feud with Pat Cash ahead of the weekend's Davis Cup encounter with Sweden.
Cash incited angry words from the Philippoussis camp last week at the Australian Open when he claimed the Victorian wasn't focused on court due to his relationship with actor/singer Delta Goodrem.
But Rafter has come to the defence of the big-hitting Australian.
"Mark's pretty used to it now," Rafter said. "He knows how to get through it.
"I think Mark will rise above that."
Rafter also had no doubt his former doubles partner would be in prime condition for a clash with the Swedes.
"He'll go out there and give 100 per cent, not 70 per cent," he said.
After winning an exhibition match against Swedish Davis Cup captain Mats Wilander in Townsville this evening, Rafter declared he wouldn't be picking up his racquet again any time soon.
"I'm not going to play for a little while now," Rafter said.
He also put to bed any chance of him making a permanent return to the tour.
