Glory down Marconi 2-0
Marconi proved only as good as its final touch as a flat Perth Glory stole a 2-0 National Soccer League win over the Stallions at Marconi Stadium.
The home side dominated much of the game but found finishing a tad harder than looking the better team before the West Australians ran away with the game in the second stanza.
With usually taciturn coach Mich d'Avray bellowing from the sidelines the Glory shook off two consecutive defeats to register the win.
After a clueless first half the old firm of Damian Mori and Bobby Despotovski sunk the Stallions, each scoring goals.
A lovely Gary Faria cross from the left side set the scene for the Glory's opener after 69 minutes, striker Mori on the spot after a bump through by Brad Hassell.
Defender Jade North earned the kudos for the clincher six minutes later, a sweeping run down the right side followed by a pinpoint cross to Despotovski set up the midfielder with a header to make it 2-0.
Marconi had by far the better of the first half, troubling the West Australians with long balls and a willing if undermanned attack.
Nick Carle had a handful of half-chances but couldn't convert to give the home side a lead.
Two opportunities stood out for the striker - a 23rd minute one on one denied by Glory keeper Jason Petkovic and then in the 35th minute when Carle couldn't shake off three opposition defenders when in sniffing distance of the goal.
The Glory's only real opportunity of the half came in the 18th minute when Despotovski and Mori combined - almost to perfection.
