AFL gun Franklin had treatment at hospital
Hawthorn star Lance Franklin had hospital treatment for a stomach bug as his medical woes in this AFL finals series continued.
But the Hawks remain insistent he will be ready for Friday night's preliminary final against Collingwood at the MCG.
Franklin met a club doctor at Melbourne's Cabrini Hospital on Tuesday and was given a dose of an anti-nausea drug.
"He's feeling better, we expect him to train tomorrow," said Hawks football manager Mark Evans.
"He's in no doubt (for Friday's game), certainly he's much improved on yesterday afternoon.
"In 24 hours, we think he'll be fit and firing."
Evans said Franklin was sent home from the club at Monday lunchtime after the forward started feeling ill.
Franklin did not attend Monday night's All-Australian function, where he was named at full-forward after winning the Coleman Medal as the leading goalkicker this season.
He suffered bone bruising in a knee when he landed awkwardly late in the qualifying final loss to Geelong.
But Franklin made a speedy recovery and kicked four goals in last Friday night's semi-final win over Sydney.
The club has kept Franklin away from his team-mates on Tuesday to ensure no-one else catches the illness.
"That's why they wanted to keep him inside, it's one of those illnesses that probably spreads - he's on top of it now," Hawks midfielder Jordan Lewis said on Tuesday.
"He's made friends with the toilet bowl the last couple of days.
"He's fine, there's no doubt he'll play this weekend, so it's not an issue for the rest of the week."
Evans added young midfielder Paul Puopolo will also be fit for Friday night after suffering hamstring cramp late in the match against the Swans.
