Riewoldt body language under fire
Star forward Jack Riewoldt can expect a dressing-down from Richmond coach Damien Hardwick after his anger spilled over in his side's 63-point AFL battering by Hawthorn on Saturday night.
Riewoldt made a rude finger gesture - caught and replayed several times on television - which is likely to be scrutinised by the AFL's match review panel.
But Hardwick's ire was raised by Riewoldt giving teammate Dustin Martin a verbal serve during the match at the MCG - something the coach felt was unacceptable.
Riewoldt also lost his cool in the Tigers' draw with St Kilda last weekend when benched by doctors because of concussion - that episode blamed on his head knock.
"Jack's got to improve in that area, there's no doubt," Hardwick said when asked about Riewoldt's surly on-field mood.
"I think there was a period he was yelling at Dustin Martin which is disappointing. We'll address that during the week."
Perhaps fuelling Riewoldt's mood was the fact the Coleman Medallist had a dirty day as Hawthorn's defenders - especially the excellent Josh Gibson - controlled him comfortably.
Riewoldt had just eight touches and a goal - all coming with the game well and truly lost.
Hardwick has a role model in mind for Riewoldt to turn his poor body language around - Hawthorn star Lance Franklin, who was best on ground with a five-goal haul against the Tigers.
Hardwick worked alongside Franklin when he was an assistant coach at the Hawks prior to taking on the Tigers job.
"Full forwards always come under scrutiny for their body language. I only have to look back three years when I was at Hawthorn when Lance Franklin was doing exactly the same thing," Hardwick said.
