Laidley quiet about how to stop Franklin
North Melbourne coach Dean Laidley would not be drawn on the science behind stopping Hawthorn star Lance Franklin in Saturday's AFL clash at Telstra Dome.
With the use of expert statistics, the Kangaroos know the Hawk forward favours a particular zone on the ground when he makes his leads.
The "heat maps" reveal Franklin leads diagonally and almost exclusively to the right pocket, where he takes the ball 40 metres out from goal.
But Laidley said he would elaborate on the data the Roos are using to combat Franklin.
"Look mate, the reality is I'm not going to talk about it, simple as that," Laidley said before a final skills session at the club's training base at Arden Street.
"They're available from Champion Data, anyone can get them, just got to make sure you pay your money.
"The emphasis is not on 'Buddy' (Franklin).
"The emphasis is on winning the football, putting some pressure on and keeping the scoreboard ticking over like we did last week."
