Geelong's Selwood offered three-match ban
Geelong midfield star Joel Selwood has been offered a three-week suspension by the AFL for striking Hawthorn's Brent Guerra.
Guerra suffered a perforated eardrum in the behind-the-play incident during the last quarter of Saturday night's clash at the MCG which the Cats won by five points.
The AFL's Match Review Panel has assessed the incident as a level-five striking offence, which incurs a four-week ban.
The panel relied on a medical report from the Hawks and video evidence in reaching the decision.
Selwood's penalty of 425 demerit points and a four-match ban would be reduced by 25 per cent to 318.75 points and a three-match ban with an early guilty plea.
