Sydney Origin clash a sell out
Next Wednesday's second State of Origin clash in Sydney has sold out for the first time since 2005.
With NSW trying to avoid an unprecedented sixth straight series defeat to Queensland, following the Maroons' 16-12 victory in an absorbing encounter in Brisbane two weeks ago, demand for tickets has been high.
More than 82,000 fans have snapped up tickets in what is shaping up as one of the most keenly-awaited Origin encounters in many years.
The biggest Origin crowd to attend a match in Sydney was 88,336 in game two of the 1999 series at Homebush.
Since the redesign of the stadium following the Sydney Olympics, the biggest Origin crowd in Sydney was 82,487 in 2004, when NSW scored a 36-14 win in the game three decider.
