Sorry your honour, I'm at Origin: Tallis
A court has delayed a sentencing hearing for rugby league legend Gorden Tallis due to his State of Origin commitments.
Tallis had been due to be sentenced for illegally chopping down trees in contravention of council by-laws.
But he did not show up at the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Wednesday morning.
His solicitor Dan McManus apologised for his client's absence.
"Mr Tallis is in Sydney in relation to tonight's State of Origin football match," he said.
Mr McManus formally entered a guilty plea on behalf of Tallis and told the court his client would like to be present for sentencing.
Tallis is charged with removing 14 trees from his Bardon property in January 2009.
The sentencing was rescheduled for July 28.
