Huddersfield join Warrington at top
Former New Zealand international David Fa'alogo put the final stamp on Huddersfield's 40-18 win over Castleford - keeping the pressure on Warrington in what is now a two-way tie at the top of the Super League.
The former South Sydney secondrower scored the Giants seventh try in the closing stages but the plaudits must go to Leroy Cudjoe who started proceedings in the third minute and later added a second in the 32nd in a heavily delayed fixture.
Having been switched to Halifax's Shay Stadium due to resurfacing works at Huddersfield's normal home kick off was first put back due to technical difficulties before a kit clash made for a further delay.
However that appeared to have little effect on Cudjoe who was also joined in scoring by Eorl Crabtree, David Hodgson, Lee Gilmour and Jermaine McGillvary - his score moments after coming out of the sin bin.
Warrington remain at the very top of the table courtesy of a mammoth goal difference - heavily added to in their 56-16 win over Crusaders.
Former Wests Tigers fullback Brett Hodgson was one of seven to cross for the Wolves bagging a hat-trick while also booting eight goals for a personal tally of 28 points.
Crusaders actually went ahead with three quick tries from Elliot Kear, Hep Cahill and ex-Penrith Panthers scrum-half Jarrod Sammut beating the opening two from Warrington's former Australian international Matt King and Adrian Morley.
However the Wolves were rampant just before the break and after it too with Hodgson's hat-trick helping them top 50 points for the seventh time in nine Super League fixtures.
Wigan failed to keep it a three-way tie at the top after Daryl Millard, who made nearly 50 appearances for the Bulldogs in the NRL, scored twice for the Catalan Dragons for a 20-12 win.
Millard crossed in the 26th and 70th minutes and while Sam Tomkins grabbed a double of his own for the Warriors Jean Philippe-Baile's earlier score and four goals from Scott Dureau proved theirdownfall.
Last year's runners-up St Helens pulled level with reigning champions Wigan on 22 points after demolishing four-time winners Leeds 42-16.
James Graham opened the scoring in a game that burst into life after half-time with James Roby, former New Zealand international Francis Meli, Jonny Lomax, Scott Moore, Paul Wellens and Lee Gaskell all scoring for Saints.
Jamie Jones-Buchanan and Lee Smith added late tries for Leeds, while Kevin Sinfield booted four goals in the game, but the Rhinos still slipped to back-to-back heavy defeats.
Elsewhere two late tries from Shaun Briscoe against former employers Hull FC ensured Hull KR won the local bragging rights following a tight 17-10 victory.
After leading courtesy of tries from Kirk Yeaman and Martin Gleeson Hull FC were stunned when Briscoe touched down twice in six second half minutes - adding to Kris Welham's opening score.
Ex-New Zealand Warriors centre Patrick Ah Van was also at the double as Bradford won 30-16 on the road against Harlequins - while contributing five goals as well.
And Stefan Ratchford scored a hat-trick as Salford City Reds saw off Wakefield 34-12 for their sixth win of the season.
