Wigan feeling nobler as they sink Hull
Wigan ended a turbulent week on a positive note, beating Hull KR 36-28 in their Super League clash at Craven Park on Sunday to relieve some much-needed pressure on under-fire boss Brian Noble.
Former Wests Tigers winger Pat Richards scored 16 points, which included two tries and four goals to help lift the Warriors back into the play-off spots.
Wigan battled back from 10-0 down early on to trail 16-14 at halftime, before taking control in the second-half.
Elsewhere, Wakefield staged a late fightback against in-form Harlequins to win 20-18, with Danny Brough converting under pressure a last-gasp try from Scott Grix.
Harlequins looked home and dry in the final stages as Chad Randall and Luke Gale scored second-half touchdowns to put the Londoners in pole position.
Oliver Wilkes and Tony Martin for Wakefield and Danny Orr for Harlequins had earlier scored first-half tries but after Grix's score Brough held his nerve from wide to seal the win.
In Sunday's other game, Warrington made it five wins in their last six games as they defeated Hull 24-12.
The sides were level at 6-6 at the break after tries from Jodie Broughton and Chris Riley but the Wolves then ran in three tries in 10 minutes, with Paul Wood, Matt King and Ben Harrison all going over.
In Saturday's only Super League fixture the Catalans Dragons were forced to dig deep as they held on for a nervy 22-20 away-day win against Castleford.
On Friday night, Huddersfield Giants bounced back from last week's embarrassing home loss to Castleford by making seven wins in nine away games thanks to a blistering start against Salford.
Meanwhile, St Helens took another giant stride towards topping the Super League table for a fifth successive season as they hammered bottom club Celtic Crusaders.
In Friday's other game, Leeds beat Bradford 33-20, with Rob Burrow scoring a brilliant late try as the home side prevented a late fightback.
