Johns switch not motivated by money
Andrew Johns has said he has not been motivated by money in taking up a short-term deal with English Super League club Warrington.
Warrington officially announced the signing of the 31-year-old star of Newcastle, NSW and Australia.
The move has been made contentious by its timing, with Johns potentially forced to choose between Warrington and Australia, as an appearance in the Super League grand final would prevent him donning the Kangaroos colours for the Tri-Nations match against New Zealand.
Johns clearly has that grand final as a priority.
"It's happened pretty fast, I've always harboured an ambition to play in the big games in Super League - they don't get any bigger than the Super League final," Johns said.
"There's no time to ease in, the first game is against Leeds, it will be a big test but I'm looking forward to it.
"Hopefully I can add a little bit of polish and we'll be a major force.
Johns was yet to commit himself fully to either the potential grand final appearance or national duty.
"There are a lot of ifs and buts," Johns said.
"This is just hypothetical at the moment.
