Witt charged with punching opponent
Former NRL halfback Michael Witt faces an English Super League ban after being charged with punching during a Crusaders match.
The Australian has been ordered to appear before the Rugby Football League's disciplinary committee on Tuesday to contest the charge.
The former Manly, Parramatta and Warriors player, now with English Super League side Crusaders, has been cited by the RFL's match review panel for a grade B offence of punching Castleford full-back Richard Mathers during his side's 56-16 defeat yesterday.
He was one of three Crusaders players sin-binned, with Tigers duo Nick Fozzard and Willie Isa both receiving cautions for dangerous play in that match.
Former NRL hardman Luke O'Donnell (Huddersfield), Ben Westwood (Warrington) and Tony Clubb (Harlequins) have also been given cautions which will remain on the players' records.
