Reds prop cleared of dangerous tackle
Queensland prop James Slipper has been cleared of dangerous play after being cited for a dangerous tackle in the Reds' 30-25 Super Rugby win over the Lions.
The Wallabies tighthead prop was found not guilty after appearing at a SANZAR judicial hearing in Cape Town on Monday.
The southern hemisphere rugby body says the case was dismissed after a judicial officer failed to be satisfied that the tackle was in breach of the law relating to lifting an opponent off the ground and then dropping or driving him into the ground.
Slipper was yellow-carded for the tackle on Lions hooker Bandise Maku but is now free to play in this weekend's eighth-round match against Super Rugby leaders the Stormers.
