Blues wing Ranger barred over tackle
Auckland Blues winger Rene Ranger was banned for one Super 14 match after being found guilty of making a dangerous tackle on Northern Bulls hooker Derick Kuun.
The incident happened on Saturday during the South Africans' 59-26 second-round victory over the New Zealanders at Loftus Versfeld and the punishment was decided Sunday by a judicial officer from the governing SANZAR body.
Ranger will miss the Blues second match of their South African tour against Western Stormers in Cape Town on Saturday.
Golden Lions replacement back Jannie Boshoff and prop Heinke van der Merwe face a disciplinary hearing Tuesday after being cited for a tackle on centre Francois Steyn during a 25-10 loss to the Coastal Sharks in Durban.
