Burgess sweating over shoulder injury
South Sydney prop Sam Burgess will undergo x-rays on Sunday to determine the extent of damage to his left shoulder.
The 21-year-old was forced to leave the pitch midway through the opening half of England's 36-10 Four Nations win over Papua New Guinea at Eden Park on Saturday with what appeared to be a dislocated shoulder.
Burgess failed to return to the game and was in considerable pain in the changing rooms afterwards, unable to lift his arm.
England team doctor Amit Pannu was confident there wasn't significant damage to the joint, but did not rule out the need for surgery.
"He's tried to hand off and as he raised his arm he felt it move, so we will have to get an x-ray tomorrow," Pannu said.
"We have seen an orthopedic surgeon here who has assessed him.
"We just need to get an x-ray now to rule anything out and see how he responds after that."
Burgess has a history of shoulder problems and underwent a full reconstruction on his right shoulder during his time with Bradford in the English Super League.
Pannu said it was a case of playing the waiting game.
"You can get little cracks around the shoulder blade and we just need to check that out and dot the i's and cross the t's and see how we go from there.
"It may be that he still needs to go for a scan on Monday after the x-ray.
"It is not a nice injury, at the moment we are not very concerned, but it is a case of seeing how it goes tomorrow.
"There is the potential that it could be possible damage to the joint."
Burgess admitted he was surprised about the news Brisbane had withdrawn their contract offer to Greg Inglis on Saturday, but said he had no idea if the Queensland and Test centre would be joining him at Souths next season.
"I haven't really been in touch with anyone in Sydney the last few weeks so I honestly haven't got a clue what is going on," he said.
