Viduka Misses Aussie Qualifier
Mark Viduka has been ruled out of Australia's Confederations Cup qualifier with the Solomon Islands.
The Middlesbrough striker had been due to fly home for the double-header which will determine which Oceania team takes part in next year's tournament in Germany.
But, after missing Sunday's 1-1 draw at Manchester United with a hip injury, Viduka is now due to visit a specialist to determine the precise extent of the damage.
"Mark has had a hip problem and will see a specialist tomorrow," confirmed Boro boss Steve McClaren.
"We hope to clear the problem up during the international break, so he won't be joining up with Australia."
Socceroos coach Frank Farina had feared the worst about Viduka who is now sidelined with exciting Everton midfielder Tim Cahill, the victim of a dodgy tackle on Saturday.
Leicester hardman Danny Tiatto (groin) is also in serious doubt and there are also major question marks over the fitness of Socceroos skipper and central defender Craig Moore.
However Liverpool's Harry Kewell is set to make a rare appearance in the green and gold despite a groin injury undermining his season to date.
