Groin injury to cost Campese up to 6 weeks
Terry Campese's comeback from a nine-month injury layoff lasted only minutes, with the shattered Canberra five-eighth sidelined again for up to six weeks.
Campese suffered a groin injury during the Raiders' 40-24 loss to North Queensland on Sunday.
His long-awaited return from a knee injury lasted just nine minutes when he injured his adductor while attempting a tackle.
Campese said he knew as soon as he suffered the injury that he was in real trouble.
"I just felt my groin and never felt the best and then tried to jog afterwards," he told reporters in Monday.
"I just knew that I'd be more a liability than anything so it would be better to get one of the guys on the bench."
He tried to put a positive spin on the setback.
"There's people worse off than me ... I'm still lucky to be in the position I am.
"I've just got to keep my head up and do the right thing by my injuries," Campese said.
He will undergo scans on Tuesday afternoon to determine the extent of the damage but is expected be out for 2-6 weeks, so will miss the Raiders' clash against the fourth-placed Brisbane on Sunday.
The Raiders also lost State of Origin fullback Josh Dugan to an ankle strain during Sunday's match.
