Griffen named Western Bulldogs' best
Western Bulldogs midfielder Ryan Griffen has been awarded the AFL club's Charles Sutton Medal for best and fairest.
It is the first time Griffen has taken out the prestigious award and caps off a standout year for the South Australian product.
Originally taken by the Bulldogs with the third pick in the 2004 AFL draft, Griffen recently re-signed with the preliminary finalists for the next two years after enjoying a breakout season in 2010.
Daniel Cross, who won the Medal in 2008, finished the count in second position after another consistent year.
Cross underwent two ankle reconstructions before the beginning of the Season but still managed to play every game.
Forward Daniel Giansiracusa edged out last year's winner Matthew Boyd to finish the count in third position.
The 28-year-old Giansiracusa also played every game in Season 2010 and kicked 35 goals.
