Rawlings and Harvey share Roos top gong
North Melbourne veterans Brent Harvey and Brady Rawlings have shared the AFL club's top honour at the Kangaroos' best and fairest awards night on Wednesday.
In one of the tightest count's in the club's history, the pair were awarded dual Syd Barker medals after both polled 44 votes - just one ahead of last year's winner Andrew Swallow.
It was a club-record fifth best and fairest for captain Harvey, having previously earned the honour in 2003, 2005, 2007 and 2008, allowing the hardworking midfield star to overtake club champions Wayne Carey, David Dench and Noel Teasdale.
For Rawlings, who had previously taken home the Syd Barker medal in 2004 and 2006, it was just reward for a career best season after he moved into the back-line.
The deputy-vice captain averaged an impressive 28.3 possessions a game after becoming a pivotal part of the clubs back six, while also enjoying a new personal best with 39 disposals (13 kicks 26 handballs) and 8 marks in the club's 54 point win over Fremantle in round 19.
