Tippett to thrive in the wet for Crows
Adelaide coach Neil Craig says even the expected wet weather won't halt key forward Kurt Tippet in Saturday's AFL clash with struggling West Coast at Subiaco Oval.
Driving rain greeted the Crows in Perth on Friday as Craig put his charges through a light run.
Tippett booted just one goal in the first four rounds of the season but has since exploded to life, kicking two bags of four and a haul of six in the past three games.
Craig said Tippett, who has 31 goals for the year, would thrive against the Eagles - even if the rain turned the game into a slog.
"Kurt's a competitor and he wouldn't even be thinking about the weather, he just wants to play," Craig said of the 23-year-old on Friday.
"He'll love it, he's a highly competitive player so he won't worry what conditions he'll play in.
"His aerial (work) has been outstanding, he's elite in the competition, so hopefully he can put that on show tomorrow because it's exciting to watch.
"It (the expected wet weather) certainly won't affect our selection, the side that we picked we will go with.
"We played in dewy conditions last week so we've had that experience."
Three wins in the past four weeks have thrust Adelaide back into finals contention, with the club now just two wins adrift of eighth spot.
But Craig said it was far too early to be thinking about a top-eight finish just yet.
"We are two games out, eight to go - it's a long way to be behind," he said.
"At one stage, it wasn't that long ago we were talking about finishing on the bottom and that's still a possibility.
"Internally in football clubs we can't get caught up in thinking about that (finals or wooden spoons) all the time, we've just got to worry about playing a brand of football to get what we want.
"Hardly any discussion in our club is about finals or where we're going to finish, that looks after itself."
West Coast sit dead last on the table following six straight losses but Craig backed besieged Eagles coach John Worsfold to turn his team's fortunes around.
"Sometimes you get into that situation thinking you're never going to win again, but you do," Craig said.
"The club has too proud a history not to turn it around and with John's leadership they'll turn it around."
Adelaide go in with an unchanged line-up but the same can't be said for the Eagles, who have made five changes.
Ashley Smith, pick No.36 in the 2008 national draft, will make his debut while Brett Jones, Ashton Hams, Mitch Brown and Lewis Stevenson make their returns.
Ben McKinley and Beau Wilkes were dropped and injured trio Tom Swift, Pat McGinnity and Bradd Dalziell couldn't be considered.
