Crows coach confident key trio will stay
Adelaide coach Neil Craig is confident three key Crows will snub overtures from the new AFL entity, Gold Coast Sun.
All Australian defender Nathan Bock, hard-nosed midfielder Scott Thompson and damaging forward Chris Knights have all yet to ink new contracts with the Crows.
Bock and Thompson have been touted as prime targets for the Gold Coast, while Victorian-born Knights has postponed contract talks until after the season.
Craig said despite speculation, none of the trio had indicated they want to leave Adelaide.
And Craig was adamant the Crows would be foolish to get involved in a bidding war with the new AFL entity.
"You are not going to compete with Gold Coast financially if they want a player - if you do, I think you would be irresponsible," Craig said on Friday.
Craig said he didn't have an issue with the trio's protracted contract talks.
"I don't have an issue with them negotiating, they have got their right to do that, I don't think they should ever take that right away from them," he said.
"All I would want to know is if they have made their decision, I would like to know that decision."
Craig said the prospect of any of his players agreeing to join the Gold Coast but not informing his club "doesn't sit right with me".
"I would like to know .... I just want them to be open," he said.
Craig said his "gut feel" was that all three players would remain at the Crows.
