Crows' forward Knights has foot surgery
Adelaide forward Chris Knights' cursed AFL season has continued with foot surgery to sideline him for six weeks.
Knights has had surgery in Melbourne after failing to overcome a nagging foot tissue complaint, plantar fasciitis.
The 23-year-old enjoyed a break-out 2009 when emerging as one of the competition's most damaging half-forward flankers, but has played just three games this season.
Knights missed much of the preseason with a stress fracture in the same foot now suffering plantar fasciitis.
Adelaide coach Neil Craig said a frustrated Knights was relieved at having a surgical solution.
"He sees it as a big step forward in terms of trying to play some football for the rest of this year," Craig said on Thursday.
"It has been a real challenge for him, this one.
"It can be an injury that can hang around for long periods of time so it has been frustrating for Chris.
"But we keep our fingers crossed that the year hasn't been totally wasted and he can get to play some footy towards the end."
