Adelaide could be strengthened by the return of a key trio for Sunday's AFL match against Brisbane.

Defender Graham Johncock (shoulder), forward Chris Knights (foot) and wingman David Mackay (groin) are on the verge of returning from injury.

The trio will face fitness tests to determine whether they will front for the 15th-placed Crows when they host the Lions.

Forward Brett Burton was on Monday listed as being six matches from returning from his knee surgery last week.

And the extent of midfielder Scott Thompson's calf injury has yet to be confirmed after the onballer was a late withdrawal from Adelaide's loss to Carlton on Sunday.

Forgotten defender Brad Symes, who has yet to play this year due to a knee injury, is also rated a chance to return in the SANFL this weekend.
