Slater pleads guilty, escapes NRL ban
Melbourne fullback Billy Slater is free to play in Saturday's NRL clash with Canberra after entering an early guilty plea to a dangerous contact charge.
The Test fullback received a grade one charge for an awkward feet-first tackle that led to a penalty try in Sunday's 36-14 loss to Brisbane at AAMI Park.
Slater was attempting to stop Broncos winger Jharal Yow Yeh scoring in the corner and was placed on report.
No charges were laid out of Monday night's 32-14 victory by North Queensland over the Sydney Roosters.
