Paterson to miss Sharks clash
Cory Paterson will miss Newcastle's clash with Cronulla after the backrower accepted an early guilty plea for dangerous contact with his knees from Monday night's NRL loss to Brisbane.
Paterson was charged by the NRL match review committee over an incident in the 73rd minute on Broncos winger Jharal Yow Yeh in the 17-6 loss at Suncorp Stadium.
Paterson had been named in coach Rick Stone's squad to take on the Sharks at Ausgrid Stadium on Sunday, with the injury-hit Knights likely to call on Marvin Karawana as his replacement.
North Queensland backrower Gavin Cooper will also miss a week after he took the early guilty plea on a dangerous throw charge on Gold Coast prop Ryan James.
His 14th minute infringement means he will miss the Cowboys' clash with Canberra at Dairy Farmers Stadium on Saturday night.
However, Brisbane prop Dane Carlaw is free to play the Roosters on Saturday after he accepted the early plea for his 29th minute crusher tackle on Newcastle's Dan Tolar.
