Slater in trouble over feet-first tackle
Melbourne star Billy Slater can escape a ban for the feet-first tackle that led to a penalty try in Sunday's loss to Brisbane.
The Test fullback received a grade one dangerous contact charge for the 23rd minute incident, which resulted in a rare penalty try being awarded by video referee Steve Clark in the 36-14 Broncos victory at AAMI Park.
Slater appeared to go into a tackle legs-first, attempting to stop Brisbane winger Jharal Yow Yeh scoring in the corner.
The Storm No.1 was placed on report but he will escape any suspension if he enters an early guilty plea.
He will miss only Saturday's NRL clash with Canberra if he fights the charge and loses.
No other charges arose from the weekend matches.
