Cats premiership medal sells for $8,737
A Geelong 1925 VFL premiership belonging to player Nick Brushfield has sold at auction for $8,737.
The solid gold and blue enamel medal celebrating the Cats' first ever premiership win in the then VFL went on the auction block at Leski Auctions in Melbourne on Wednesday night.
A Leski Auction spokeswoman said there were three or four bidders for the medal which was eventually knocked down to a telephone bidder.
The auctioneer had put an estimate on it between $6,000 to $10,000.
The medal comes from the collection of Brushfield's nephew, Brian Brushfield, who played 15 games for Geelong from 1962 to 1965.
